I dream of Raspberry Iced Tea with Lacoste dream of Pink

I love raspberry iced tea. I do, but when it comes to perfumes, raspberry is a tough scent to get right. Berry infused or inspired fragrance have a tendency to go overboard with the sweet berry notes. When it comes to berry perfumes, there’s a fine line between just right and fragrance headache.

So, I wondered, would Lacoste’s new dream of Pink get it right? Or would it be just another Strawberry Shortcake doll wrapped in sheep’s clothing?

I admit to having anti-berry bias. After spritzing Lacoste’s red berry-infused dream of Pink ($52) on my wrist the other day, I had a bottle of Ibuprofen ready to help with the headache I was sure it would cause. Oh, but I was wrong. No headache. Instead, I was met with a nice surprise — the natural, subtle scent of raspberry iced tea!

Lacoste’s dream of Pink is an updated version of one of their standby fragrances, Touch of Pink. released in February, dream of Pink falls into what I’d characterize as the fruity floral fragrance (say that fast five times) category. Lacoste claims that in addition to red berry, dream of Pink contains notes of sandalwood, musk, lotus flower, tea and rose.

The tea notes really stood out to me, but I liked that because it worked to tone down the berry sweetness. This morning, I spritzed a bit on my neck and wrists. Mmm! Raspberry iced tea.

As is the case with most perfumes, the fragrance smells completely different sprayed into the air or on paper than it smells sprayed onto my skin. everywhere but on my skin, the tea scent is less evident, and the berry, rose and musk notes have an almost sporty edge to them that reminds me of Lacoste’s clothing. think cute tennis outfits, LOL — sporty, yet feminine and just a lil’ flirty. too bad it doesn’t translate onto my skin.

While I like dream of Pink and find it novel and fun to smell like a refreshing drink, it’s not something I’d wear every day. Smelling like tea 24/7 would get old, so dream of Pink is going to be an occasional spring fragrance for me. My search for *the one* spring scent continues!

One 1.6 fl oz bottle of dream of Pink Eau de Toilette Spray runs $52, available for purchase at Lacoste boutiques nationwide.

For the past two days I’ve been listening to old school Whitney Houston and girrrrl, that woman had some pipes! witness her skills in how will I Know? Warning: you will rock out upon hearing this.

I love a good comeback story, and Whitney needs one ASAP! Come on, Whit! record some new music and then release a celeb fragrance. show us you’re a fighter, girlfriend!

This morning, besides rocking out to Whitney Houston classics, I’ve been slamming coffee and answering e-mails. Is your day off to a good start?
